As cops crack down on bootleggers ahead of the New Year festivities, Ahmedabad’s party animals are jittery about throwing their booze-filled bashes. But there are no jitters for those planning parties for children on the outskirts of the city. The logic is, if grown-ups can’t have fun, there is no reason to make it boring for the kids too this New Year.
Till last year, farmhouses near the city came alive with dance parties with dancers from Mumbai and Goa enlivening the scene. This year, the children will jive to their own beats.
Nikita Jagnani has organized a carnival at her farmhouse in Sanand to entertain more than 70 kids. “We have special rides, installations, live Christmas tree decorating event, moon walker, tattooing, and hair beading activities to entertain kids,” said Nikita.
Similarly, Roopal Shah has organized a special evening for kids at her farmhouse. “We would begin with rides, fun games and movie-screening. After food, we plan a fireworks show.”
Dhawni Bhagat, an educationist, plans to spend the New Year at a terrace party with her 15-year-old daughter Prinyashi. “We plan be a part of a kids’ party – a kind of party where the no would be embarrassed even if the police raids the venue.”
More than 60 per cent of the schools in the city do not offer a Christmas break. Hence, many parents cannot leave the city for New Year celebrations.
Sujal Desai, a businessman, said, “Many like me would not prefer to take part in festivities laid out at farmhouses. We plan to spend New Year with family at a privately organized kids’ entertainment get-together.” Following the recent party trend, premium city clubs including Karnavati and Rajpath have also planned special events to entertain kids.
