Ahmedabad’s multi-millionaire and noted industrialist Gautam Adani’s son will be a married man this Valentine’s Day reports Priya Adhyaru-Majithia
Although the city is eager to witness one of its biggest and fattest Gujarati weddings slated for February 13, the about-to-be-couple, Karan Adani and Paridhi Shroff, will however tie the knot in Goa.
However, this past weekend witnessed a series of pre-wedding events. For instance, after hosting a musical evening of serene ghazals by Manhar Udhas on Saturday, the family treated a select few guests at an exclusive cocktail party on Monday. The right etiquette, black tuxedo suits made of Italian fabric and vibrant music succeeded in setting up the right party ambience.
The wedding, scheduled for February 13 at the Taj Holiday Village, Goa will commence in the shubh muhurth which is 12:39pm — astrologically named Vijay Muhurth. Only 500 – a very slender number of guests and relatives will be included at the wedding.
The wedding thereafter will be followed by three lavish receptions — first on February 15 at a premier club in Ahmedabad, second on February 17 at the same venue and the third is scheduled to take place at Kutch at the Mundra township.
Sources reveal that the first reception is likely to witness over 12 top level ministers from across the state. “There would be more than 4,000 guests at the first reception while the second reception on February 17 is hosted for Adani employees. The last and largest reception will be hosted at Kutch and is likely to receive over 10,000 guests which will also include top-level ministers from that region,” said a source.
Adanis will be seen flaunting bright colours at various wedding ceremonies. Bipin Chauhan, designer of premium wedding outfits has designed over 30 wedding outfits for about 10 members of the family. He said, “Five Adani brothers will be seen in kurta-chudidaar with hi-neck Nehru jackets during various ceremonies slated to take place before the wedding. On the wedding day they will be seen wearing Sherwanis made using matka silk. New and bright colours like light purple, firozi, ink blue and violet are chosen for their outfits. At the musical nights they will be seen donning Indo-western outfits.”
Karan, son of Gautam and Priti Adani was engaged in April last year with Paridhi, daughter of Vandana and Cyril Shroff. Karan (25) who works with his father primarily looks after the port business of Adani Group. On the other hand, Paridhi (22) is a law student, and is the managing partner of a Mumbai-based law firm, Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co. The company has opened office in Ahmedabad last year.
