A network of 56 family physicians from the city providing standardised treatment protocols under a common identity has just begun this techno-savvy trend.
Down with high grade fever? Do not panic; just send your queries to your doctor and receive tips on first hand medication via their twitter account. This is the latest techno-savvy trend that 56 family physicians in the city have recently started to give faster yet precise medical services.
The objective is to give timely tips so that more and more number of people can be saved from slipping away towards the dangerous practice of self medication for small complaints, say physicians.
A network of 56 family physicians from the city providing standardised treatments under a common identity since about a year has begun this techno-savvy trend which is still in its nascent stages. Their mission is to upgrade and improvise standard of health care provided by family physicians. About 70 clinics networked under the umbrella of Family Clinic deliver standardised treatments and follow common protocol for various diseases treatment and also gather and document data of chronic diseases like HBP, Diabetes.
Dr. Jaswant Darbar, president of Ahmedabad Medical Association (AMA) and a family physician linked with the network said, “With a motto to start 24/7 medication tips on twitter in near future, the next move is to document the patient data and link 70 clinics to share that database which is at present under process. This would enable the patient residing in particular area to assess same quality treatment at any other centre in the city.”
The networked clinics have trained and certified para-medical staff as well as have basic emergency services like Express ECG at all 70 clinics. “The entire move is to establish a network of qualified doctors across city and work as support team for other medico groups like oncology, cardiology etc,” said Dr. Pragnesh Vachhrajani, founder member of the physician network and brain behind the twitter tips services.
This service would enable patients to take timely precautionary measures and follow standardised steps, say physicians. “If your family physician has taken a summer or Diwali break you can reach him on twitter as well as also get assistance of the other physicians linked with the network who would be able to assess your past medical history via the on-line linked database,” explained Dr. Amit Shah, another family physician linked with the network.
With the twitter medical tips, the physicians also plan to update their patients about the recently prevailing disease trends and health tips to deal with it. “We are in process of offering other services like pharmacy, lab investigation, and emergency call for ambulance via the network,” said Vachhrajani.
